
Panaji, 7 December (Udaipur Kiran) – A devastating fire broke out late last night at a nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, resulting in the death of 23 staff members. Goa Police Director General Alok Kumar confirmed that all the deceased were employees of the club. The fire started after a cylinder exploded inside the premises. So far, 23 bodies have been recovered from the scene.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and local MLA Michael Lobo rushed to the site immediately after receiving the news. Lobo stated that there is no report of any tourists being harmed in the incident. Authorities have initiated relief and rescue operations promptly to control the fire and begin investigations.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. He said the incident is a great misfortune for Goa, a prominent tourist state. He further mentioned that the fire was caused due to negligence by those who ran such establishments illegally, ignoring regulations, which led to the loss of 23 lives. The government will carry out a thorough inquiry into the incident.
