
New Delhi (Udaipur Kiran): The impact of the cold wave has intensified across Delhi-NCR, with temperatures dropping sharply on Thursday. The minimum temperature in the national capital slipped to 6.4 degrees Celsius, while piercing cold winds added to the chill. A day earlier, Delhi’s minimum temperature was 7.8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature stood at 23.7 degrees Celsius, which was 1.6 degrees lower than the previous day.
According to the weather department, the cold wave intensity is expected to increase in Delhi from December 5, while dense fog is likely to affect the region from December 6. On Wednesday, Delhi recorded its coldest day of December so far with a maximum temperature of 23.7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius was also 3.1 degrees below normal. Fog is likely to prevail in Noida, Ghaziabad and other parts of Delhi-NCR. On December 4, the maximum temperature may remain around 23 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could drop to 6 degrees Celsius.
Among the coldest places in the country, Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 7.4 degrees Celsius, while Srinagar reported minus 1.5 degrees. Shimla’s morning temperature stood at 10.4 degrees Celsius and Dehradun at 17 degrees. Chandigarh recorded 8 degrees at 6 am, Jaipur 11.2 degrees and Lucknow 11 degrees Celsius.
Severe Cold in Punjab and Rajasthan
In the plains, severe cold conditions prevailed in Punjab and parts of Rajasthan. Faridkot recorded a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius, while Bathinda reported 4 degrees. Amritsar recorded 5.3 degrees, Patiala 5 degrees, Ludhiana 5.4 degrees and Firozpur 5.2 degrees.
Gurugram Coldest in Haryana
Haryana’s Gurugram recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 3.5 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded 4 degrees, Rohtak 6 degrees, Karnal 5.6 degrees, Narnaul 5.3 degrees and Sirsa 6.4 degrees. Chandigarh also witnessed severe cold with a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius.
