Global Markets Signal Weakness, Asia Trades Mixed | Udaipur Kiran


New Delhi, December 2 (Udaipur Kiran): Global markets are showing signs of weakness today. The US markets closed lower in the previous session, although Dow Jones futures are currently trading with a marginal gain. European markets also remained under selling pressure in the last session. Meanwhile, Asian markets are witnessing mixed trading today.

In the US, the rally that had continued for five straight sessions came to a halt in the previous trading session. The Dow Jones fell by more than 400 points. The S&P 500 index declined by 0.53 per cent to close at 6,812.65 points, while the Nasdaq ended 107.05 points, or 0.46 per cent, lower at 23,258.64. Dow Jones futures are presently trading with a slight gain of 0.03 per cent at 47,302.34.

European markets also remained under sustained selling pressure in the last session. The FTSE index slipped 0.19 per cent to close at 9,702.53. The CAC index fell 0.32 per cent to end at 8,097, while the DAX index dropped 247.35 points, or 1.05 per cent, to close at 23,589.44.

Asian markets are trading on a mixed note today. Out of nine major Asian markets, six indices are trading in the green, while three are in the red. Gift Nifty is down 0.30 per cent at 26,282. Shanghai Composite is lower by 0.55 per cent at 3,892.55, and the SET Composite has slipped 0.21 per cent to 1,273.94.

On the other hand, the Nikkei index is trading 134.72 points, or 0.27 per cent, higher at 49,438. The Straits Times index has gained 0.10 per cent to reach 4,530.85. The KOSPI index is showing strong gains, rising 1.71 per cent to 3,987.53.

Similarly, the Taiwan Weighted Index is up 209.09 points, or 0.76 per cent, at 27,551.62. The Jakarta Composite Index has jumped 0.70 per cent to 8,608.87, while the Hang Seng index is trading 0.14 per cent higher at 26,070.
