
Udaipur, December 1 (Udaipur Kiran) | On the directions of the ACB headquarters, the Dungarpur unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday caught two forest guards red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 at the Katerwas Forest Check Post under Kherwada Forest Range in Udaipur district. The accused have been identified as Mahesh Kumar Meena and Vijesh Ahari.
Director General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Govind Gupta said that a complaint was received stating that the complainant and his partner are engaged in the timber business. On November 29, 2025, the complainant had loaded Nilgiri and Semal wood in a truck bearing number GJ 09 AU 1283 from Phalasia and sent it to Kherwada. At the same time, another vehicle bearing number RJ 27 GB 4806 was sent from Jhadol to Kherwada with Nilgiri wood. Both vehicles had valid bills.
On the morning of November 30, 2025, the complainant received information that both vehicles had been seized at the Katerwas forest check post. The accused forest guards demanded a bribe in exchange for releasing the truck bearing number GJ 09 AU 1283 without taking any action. On November 30, verification of the bribe demand was conducted, during which the accused forest guards agreed to accept Rs 80,000 as bribe.
Following this, on December 1, under the supervision of Dr Rameshwar Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police (I), and under the leadership of Ratan Singh Rajpurohit, Deputy Superintendent of Police, the ACB Dungarpur team led by Inspector Rajendra Singh conducted a trap operation and detained Mahesh Kumar Meena and Vijesh Ahari red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 80,000 at the Katerwas forest check post, Kherwada Forest Range, Udaipur district.
Under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police, ACB, Smita Srivastava, further interrogation and legal proceedings against the accused are ongoing. A case will be registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation will be carried out.
