
Mumbai, November 28 (Udaipur Kiran): The domestic stock markets closed on a weak note on Friday, the last trading day of the week, amid volatile trade as investors remained cautious ahead of key macroeconomic data.
The 30-share BSE Sensex slipped 13.71 points, or 0.016 per cent, to close at 85,706.67. During the session, it touched a high of 85,969.89 and a low of 85,577.82. The NSE Nifty, comprising 50 stocks, declined 12.60 points, or 0.048 per cent, to settle at 26,202.95.
Among the Sensex constituents, Power Grid, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank and Infosys recorded the biggest losses. On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India registered gains.
In other Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed lower, while Japan’s Nikkei and China’s Shanghai Composite ended with gains. Most European markets were trading in the red.
On the previous day, Thursday, the Sensex had risen 110.88 points, or 0.13 per cent, to close at 85,720.38, while the Nifty ended 10.25 points, or 0.039 per cent higher at 26,215.55.
