Police Clarify Fathenagar Calf Head Incident, Rule Out Criminal Act | Udaipur Kiran

Udaipur, November 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The police have clarified the incident of a bovine calf’s head being found near Intali Chauraha in Fathenagar town on November 21, 2025. The incident had triggered public anger, following which a case was registered at Fathenagar Police Station under FIR No. 191/2025 under Section 196(1)(d) of BNS 2023 and Sections 3 and 8 of the Bovine Protection Act, and investigation was initiated.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal directed that the case be resolved at the earliest. Under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Kherwara Anjana Sukhwal and Assistant Superintendent of Police Mavli Ashima Vaswani, teams were formed under the leadership of Fathenagar SHO Chandrashekhar Kilania.

During the investigation, a post-mortem of the calf’s head found at the spot was conducted by a medical board. The police also searched nearby areas and routes and inspected places where dead animals are usually dumped. On the Fathenagar–Aakola road, the body of an old calf was seized and a separate post-mortem was conducted by the medical board. Based on medical examination and matching of the remains, the board gave its expert opinion.

Meanwhile, through social media, a call had been made for the closure of all business establishments in the Fathenagar–Sanwad area on November 28, 2025. In this regard, on November 27, 2025, a meeting was held at Fathenagar Police Station in the presence of Sub-Divisional Officer Mavli Ramesh Sirvi, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ashima Vaswani, Naib Tehsildar Sanwad Vijay Kumar Regar, SHO Chandrashekhar Kilania, and the medical board led by Dr. Jitendra, along with representatives of local traders and respected citizens. Law and order and the progress of the investigation were discussed in detail, and the findings of the case were shared.

Based on the post-mortem report, it was found that the calf did not die due to the severing of its head. Instead, after death, wild carnivorous animals dragged and separated the head. Eye-witnesses also stated that a dog was seen bringing the calf’s head to the spot. CCTV footage related to the incident was also presented and explained during the meeting.

After this clarification, representatives of local trader associations and village elders stated that they would not support any call for a shutdown on November 28, 2025. It was also confirmed that there would be no support for any closure in the town. Necessary directions were issued accordingly.

During the meeting, trader organisations, various associations and the general public were appealed to maintain law and order and peace. A warning was also issued that no one should disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the town in any manner.

The Superintendent of Police, Udaipur, has appealed to the public to fully cooperate in maintaining law and order and peace, not to spread rumours, and to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
