Pant Leads India in Second Test as South Africa Opts to Bat | Udaipur Kiran


Guwahati, 22 November (Udaipur Kiran)। South Africa won the toss and elected to bat in the second Test against India at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. With Shubman Gill unavailable, Rishabh Pant is leading the Indian side in this match. India has made two changes for the contest.

Sai Sudharsan and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been included in place of Shubman Gill and Axar Patel. South Africa has made one change, with Senuran Muthusamy coming in for Corbin Bosch.

Gill sustained an injury while batting in the Kolkata Test and has been ruled out of the second match. Pant has been handed the captaincy in his absence and has become India’s 38th Test captain. He is also the second wicketkeeper after MS Dhoni to lead India in Test cricket.

India lost the opening Test in Kolkata by a narrow margin of 30 runs. South Africa scored 159 runs in the first innings, after which India posted 189 and gained a 30-run lead. South Africa then set a target of 124 by scoring 153 in the second innings, but India were bowled out for just 93.

India will aim to level the series 1-1, while South Africa will look to complete a 2-0 clean sweep.
