Regular Flights Begin Between Bhutan’s Paro and Nepal’s Pokhara

Kathmandu, 19 November (Udaipur Kiran). Regular direct flight services between Paro in Bhutan and Pokhara in Nepal began today with the official launch of operations at the Pokhara International Airport. Universal Tours and Travels had earlier announced four charter flights starting 28 September, but those could not operate due to various reasons. The service has now been formally initiated.

According to Pokhara Metropolitan Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, Bhutan Air officially inaugurated the Pokhara–Paro direct flight on Wednesday morning from Pokhara International Airport. Invited by Bhutan Air and its Nepal-based representative, Universal Tours and Travels, the first flight carried guests to Thimphu. Acharya said the aircraft, which had arrived from Paro without passengers, safely returned to Bhutan carrying nine guests and crew members from Pokhara.

He added that due to some technical issues, the previously planned team could not travel today, but regular flight operations are expected to begin soon. Acharya expressed confidence that Bhutan Airlines and Universal Tours and Travels will fulfil their earlier commitments through regular flights in the near future.
