
Jaipur, 19 November (Udaipur Kiran) — Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma on Wednesday held a crime review meeting through video conferencing at the Police Headquarters in Jaipur. Senior officials including DG Law and Order Sanjay Agarwal, DG Special Operations Anand Srivastava, police commissioners of Jaipur and Jodhpur, all range IGs, commissioners and district SPs, along with GRP officers, attended the session.
DGP Sharma said that crime rates in the state have declined over the past two years, but stressed the need for stronger action against organised crime to dismantle criminal gangs completely. He directed officials to prepare dossiers of extortion gangs and take the strictest possible action, including confiscation of their properties under the provisions of new criminal laws.
He also instructed police to intensify action against drug networks using NDPS and BNS provisions to ensure complete elimination of illegal narcotics trade in their respective jurisdictions.
The meeting reviewed crime statistics, action taken and achievements from January to October 2025. Sharma issued directives to strengthen operations against organised crime, maintain law and order, curb cybercrime, and crack down on illegal weapons and narcotics. He also emphasised the need to reduce road accidents by ensuring proper lane discipline on key highways.
Citing recent national incidents, the DGP called for heightened vigilance across Rajasthan. He directed officers to activate the intelligence system, identify suspicious individuals and take firm action against any activity supporting terrorism.
He stressed prompt reporting of any law and order issue to DG Law and Order and senior officials for timely guidance and support from the top level. Sharma also highlighted the importance of utilising modern technology for effective crime control and reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption.
During the discussion, he instructed district units to improve coordination across departments and districts, and to prepare weekly and monthly agendas for continuous action against crime. Pending court cases were also reviewed, with specific directions to ensure timely submission of responses and strict compliance with judicial orders. Priority implementation of e-evidence and e-summons was also mandated.
Focus on Tourist Season and Road Safety
With the tourist season continuing till March, DGP Sharma directed police to ensure better facilities and assistance for visitors. He called for expanding CCTV coverage in urban areas, border regions and major roads.
For smoother traffic flow, he ordered strict enforcement against speeding, drunk driving and illegal parking, and 100% compliance with lane discipline on national highways.
Recruitment Process to Speed Up
The DGP also instructed officials to expedite the recruitment process for 10,000 vacant constable posts in 2025. Written exam results will be released soon, followed by preparations for PET/PST.
