
Udaipur, (Udaipur Kiran). Under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Udaipur Region, the Mines Safety Association, Udaipur, organised Trade Test and First Aid competitions as part of the 49th Mine Safety Week. The event was hosted by Hindustan Zinc Limited at Zawar Mines, with enthusiastic participation from various first aid teams and trade representatives from both organised and unorganised sectors of open-cast and underground mines. Poster, slogan and essay competitions were also held.
Director of Mines Safety Tom Mathew, Deputy Director of Mines Safety Vishal Goyal, IBU CEO of Zawar Mines Anshul Kumar Khandelwal and Zawar Mines Mazdoor Sangh Senior Vice-President Jaswant Singh attended the programme as chief guests. Senior officials of various mines and mining institutions were also present.
Deputy Director Vishal Goyal outlined the structure of the Trade Test and First Aid competitions, while Anshul Kumar Khandelwal guided participants in line with this year’s theme: “Saas Lein Surakshit, Garmi Ko Harayein, Silicosis Aur Loo Se Mukti Paayein.”
After the oath-taking ceremony and flag-off, Director Tom Mathew inspected and greeted the participating first aid teams.
A total of 330 participants competed across 12 open-cast trades, 16 underground trades and 6 ore-beneficiation plant trades. Additionally, 15 first aid teams from various mines participated in the competition. Deputy Director Vishal Goyal announced 191 winners across all trade categories, who will be honoured at the Mine Safety Week closing ceremony in December.
Prizes were later distributed for poster, slogan and essay competitions.
