
Kolkata, 15 November (Udaipur Kiran). The second day of the India–South Africa Test in Kolkata saw a disappointing performance from the Indian batting lineup, with no player crossing even the 40-run mark. KL Rahul top-scored with a fighting 39 as India were bowled out for 189 in 62.2 overs.
Washington Sundar made 29 off 82 balls, while Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 27 runs each. Frequent wickets hurt India throughout the innings, preventing any major partnership.
Captain Shubman Gill retired hurt on 4 due to a neck injury and did not return to bat. For South Africa, Simon Harmer took four wickets, Marco Jansen picked up three, while Keshav Maharaj and Corbin Bosch claimed one each.
South Africa had earlier been restricted to 159 in their first innings, giving India a 30-run lead based on the first innings.
South Africa’s Batting Also Falters
After winning the toss and batting first, South Africa struggled from the beginning. Their top order collapsed and the entire team was bundled out for 159. Aiden Markram top-scored with 31, and no other batter crossed 30.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah shone with a five-wicket haul. Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each, while Axar Patel claimed one.
