Kota Double Murder Case Solved Within 48 Hours: Two Arrested in Mother-Daughter Killing Over Financial Dispute | Udaipur Kiran

Jaipur, November 9 (Udaipur Kiran) — The Kota Police have cracked the shocking double murder case of a mother and daughter that took place in the R.K. Puram area on November 7. Police have arrested two accused — Pradeep Vaishnav (30) and Bharat Sahariya (23), both residents of Surajpur, Khanpur (Jhalawar district) — while a third accused, Raju alias Mamu, remains absconding.

The victims, Jyoti Vaishnav, wife of a nursing staff employee, and her daughter Palak Vaishnav, were found strangled to death inside their home in Rozdi area under R.K. Puram police station. The heinous crime sent shockwaves across the city. Upon receiving the report, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tejaswani Gautam, Additional SP Niyati Sharma, and DySP Yogesh Sharma immediately reached the scene. Given the sensitive nature of the case, MOB, FSL, and dog squad teams were deployed to collect forensic evidence.

16 Police Teams Formed to Crack the Case

Under the supervision of Additional SP Dilip Saini and DySP Manish Sharma, as many as 16 police teams were formed, led by R.K. Puram SHO Mahendra Maru and Anantpura SHO Bhupendra. The teams carried out a meticulous investigation, analysing CCTV footage, collecting technical and forensic evidence, questioning previous offenders, and conducting intensive interrogations of relatives and acquaintances.

Accused Nabbed from Mukundra Forests

After continuous efforts and intelligence gathering, police succeeded in arresting the two accused from Mukundra forests within 48 hours of the crime. The investigation revealed that Jyoti Vaishnav and accused Pradeep Vaishnav had known each other for several years, and the motive behind the murders was a financial dispute.

Financial Dispute Turned Fatal

According to police, Jyoti owed ₹60,000 to Pradeep, which she had failed to repay. Enraged, Pradeep, along with his associates, plotted the murder. On November 6, they attempted to kill her but failed. The next day, after Jyoti’s husband left for work, the accused entered the house and strangled Jyoti in the kitchen using a scarf.

At that moment, her daughter Palak returned from school and witnessed the crime. Fearing exposure, the accused strangled Palak to death as well. To mislead investigators, they staged the scene as a robbery, stealing jewelry including a mangalsutra, earrings, and other valuables from the cupboard before fleeing.

Police Earn Praise for Swift Action

SP Tejaswani Gautam praised the coordinated efforts of all officers involved, highlighting the speed and precision with which the murder case was solved. The prompt arrests, she said, once again reaffirmed the Rajasthan Police’s mission of instilling public confidence and fear among criminals.
