Agriculture Department Reforms Fencing Scheme After MP Rawat’s Demand; Relief for Farmers in Tribal Areas | Udaipur Kiran

Udaipur, November 6 (Udaipur Kiran): Responding to the long-pending demand of farmers from scheduled and tribal regions, the State Agriculture Department has announced key reforms in its farm fencing (tarbandi) scheme, aimed at protecting crops from damage caused by wild animals.

The decision comes following the efforts of Member of Parliament Dr. Manna Lal Rawat, who had written to Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena and held personal discussions regarding the farmers’ concerns. Acting on Dr. Rawat’s request, the minister approved important amendments to the scheme to benefit farmers in wildlife-affected and scheduled areas.

Revised Provisions to Strengthen Field Protection

Under the revised guidelines, farmers can now construct 2 to 3 feet high brick or stone boundary walls along with fencing as per the prescribed standards. The Agriculture Department will provide subsidies based on unit cost and category, while keeping the current subsidy limit unchanged.

This change is expected to enhance farm security and prevent crop losses caused by wild animals, a recurring problem in several rural and tribal districts.

Positive Impact for Rural and Tribal Farmers

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena, MP Dr. Rawat said the amendment was a far-sighted and farmer-friendly decision.

“This reform will provide significant relief to farmers in tribal and rural areas by ensuring the safety of their fields and improving agricultural productivity,” he said.

The improved fencing scheme is being hailed as a major step toward protecting farmers’ livelihoods and strengthening the state’s agricultural infrastructure in sensitive regions.
