Moradabad, 3 November (Udaipur Kiran) — Agra-born cricketer Deepti Sharma, currently training as Deputy SP at Dr Bhimrao Police Academy in Moradabad, delivered a match-winning performance in the Women’s Cricket World Cup final. She scored 58 runs off 58 balls and took five wickets, playing a key role in India’s historic title victory. Her remarkable all-round display brought pride to the brass city, Moradabad.

Throughout the tournament, Deepti showcased consistent form, scoring 215 runs in seven innings with three half-centuries and claiming 22 wickets in nine matches — including a four-wicket haul in one game. Her exceptional contribution was crucial in taking India to the championship podium.

Deepti was not the only star from Moradabad connected to India’s women’s cricket success. Dehradun-born Sneha Rana, who works with the Moradabad Railway Division, was also part of the World Cup-winning Indian squad.

In the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup final, India made history by posting 298/7 against South Africa. Deepti Sharma (58) and Shafali Verma (87) led India’s batting with brilliant half-centuries, while Deepti’s five-wicket spell sealed the victory, helping India lift the trophy for the first time in 52 years.
