
Jaipur, November 2 (Udaipur Kiran) — Air Force Station Jodhpur organised the first edition of the ‘Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2025’ on Sunday, as a heartfelt tribute to Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only Param Vir Chakra awardee of the Indian Air Force and a symbol of supreme courage and sacrifice.
The event witnessed over 2,500 participants, including air warriors, their families, youth, and citizens of Jodhpur, who came together to honour the legacy of the brave officer and celebrate the spirit of fitness, unity, and patriotism.
The marathon featured 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km races, representing the discipline, teamwork, and courage that Flying Officer Sekhon embodied. Senior officers from Air Force Station Jodhpur and members of the city administration flagged off the event, while Dr. Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati of the Jodhpur High Court presided over the award ceremony.
Participants ran with immense enthusiasm to pay homage to Flying Officer Sekhon, who laid down his life while defending India’s skies during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. His exceptional bravery and commitment continue to inspire generations of armed forces personnel and civilians alike.
The event served not only as a tribute to Sekhon’s valour but also as a platform to promote fitness and national pride. Families and young participants actively engaged in the marathon, reflecting a strong sense of community and admiration for the Indian Air Force.
