Heavy Rain Likely in 29 Bihar Districts Today; Orange Alert Issued for 7 | Udaipur Kiran

Patna, November 1 (Udaipur Kiran). Cyclone Mountha has disrupted weather conditions across Bihar, bringing widespread rainfall from morning till night and affecting normal life. The continuous rain has also impacted election campaigns and public meetings across the state. Persistent showers over the past three days have led to a noticeable dip in temperature.

The Meteorological Department on Saturday predicted light to heavy rain in 29 districts of Bihar. An orange alert has been issued for East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj, warning of very heavy rainfall, lightning, and winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h. A yellow alert remains in effect for the remaining districts, where scattered rain, thunder, and gusty winds are expected to continue.

The center of Cyclone Mountha has now shifted towards Chhattisgarh, but moisture from the Bay of Bengal continues to influence Bihar’s weather. The Met Department has forecast a 4–6°C drop in temperature over the next 24 hours, likely to affect both daily life and agricultural activities.

Continuous rain over the past three days has caused waterlogging in several areas and intensified the cold. Roads in Patna and nearby districts are drenched, while low-lying regions along the Ganga face a potential flood threat. Gaya’s Imamganj received 74 mm of rainfall, Navada recorded 50 mm, and Patna’s maximum temperature settled at 24.8°C, leaving residents feeling a mild chill.

According to the Met Department, despite the weakening of Cyclone Mountha, light to moderate rainfall will continue across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, with gradual improvement expected from November 2.
