Jaipur, October 31 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major crackdown on organized crime, Churu Police have arrested hardcore criminal and Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Kapil Kumar Sharma alias Kapil Pandit, the mastermind behind the October 9 liquor shop firing incident in Rajgarh town. The arrest marks a significant success in the ongoing campaign against gang-linked extortion rackets in Rajasthan.
Firing to Spread Fear and Gain Liquor Shop Control
Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav said the firing took place near Sankhu Phatak, Rajgarh, when two unidentified men opened fire at a salesman working at a liquor shop. The attack was meant to spread fear and forcefully claim a share in the liquor business. A case was registered at Rajgarh Police Station, and the investigation was handed over to Suresh Kumar.
Considering the seriousness of the case, a special police team was formed under the supervision of Additional SP (Rajgarh) Kishorilal and ASP Abhijeet Patil, led by SHO Rajesh Kumar. The team acted swiftly and arrested two accused – Praveen alias Khacchar and Dhanraj alias Babu, along with another accomplice who was detained.
Mastermind Identified as Kapil Pandit
During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that the mastermind behind the firing was Kapil Kumar Sharma alias Kapil Pandit, a notorious criminal from Rajgarh with multiple cases of murder, robbery, kidnapping, and extortion registered against him.
Kapil Pandit, currently lodged in Bhiwani Jail, was found to be a key operative in the Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gang network. Investigation uncovered that while in jail, he had orchestrated the firing through his associates to terrorize liquor contractors in Rajgarh and demand a stake in their business using his gang reputation.
Jail Network and Execution of the Plan
Police officials revealed that Kapil Pandit coordinated the attack from jail with the help of Vikas alias Popat, a resident of Loharu, who acted as a middleman to convey instructions to shooters outside.
Following this revelation, police obtained a production warrant from the court and formally arrested Kapil Kumar Sharma (26), son of Vimal Kumar Sharma, resident of Bewad, police station Hamirwas, from Bhiwani Jail.
Ongoing Investigation and Custody
The accused was presented before the court on Friday, where police obtained custody remand for further interrogation. SP Jai Yadav said the case is being intensively investigated to uncover the broader nexus of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s extortion network operating from prisons.
