Baran, October 31 (Udaipur Kiran): In a swift and commendable operation, Baran Police solved the high-profile Anta Assembly by-election threat case within just four hours, arresting a retired government officer who had sent a threat letter in the name of gangster Rohit Godara to independent candidate Naresh Meena.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Andasu, the accused has been identified as Narendra Yadav (64), a retired PHED officer and resident of R.K. Puram, Kota. Police investigations revealed that Yadav had fabricated the entire plot to falsely implicate his rivals in an old land dispute, taking advantage of the by-election atmosphere.
How the Case Unfolded
On October 30, a registered letter arrived at the office of Anta Assembly candidate Naresh Meena. His election agent, Rakesh Kumar Gurjar, immediately informed the police after reading its contents.
The handwritten letter, allegedly signed in the name of gangster Rohit Godara, threatened Naresh Meena’s father, Kalyan Singh (former sarpanch of Nayagaon), saying:
“I am getting ₹1 crore to eliminate someone from Naresh Meena’s family. Send ₹10 lakh to my shooter, and I’ll drop the contract — otherwise, there will be a massacre on the 2nd.”
The letter further contained vulgar and threatening remarks directed toward the candidate’s wife, indicating a serious murder threat. Based on this, a case was registered at Anta Police Station, and a special investigation team (SIT) was formed.
Swift Police Action and Arrest
Under the supervision of Additional SP Rajesh Chaudhary and leadership of Women’s Police Station SHO Digvijay Singh, a joint team comprising Cyber Cell and District Special Team (DST) was deployed.
Through technical analysis and field intelligence, the team traced the origin of the letter to Bundi, from where two speed posts had been dispatched — one addressed to Naresh Meena and another to his father. Within four hours, police tracked down and arrested the accused Narendra Yadav from Kota.
Revenge Plot Over 20-Year-Old Land Dispute
During interrogation, Yadav confessed that he had planned the act to frame his long-time rivals, Vijay Thhanewal and Amit Thhanewal (sons of Rajendra Dhakad), with whom he had a 20-year-old land dispute in Siswali. To divert suspicion, he wrote the threat letter using his non-dominant hand and sent it from a different district.
Police recovered another threat letter from his residence, which he had planned to send to Naresh Meena’s wife, Sunita Meena.
Accused in Custody, Investigation Continues
SP Abhishek Andasu confirmed that Narendra Yadav, who retired as an IIO from PHED Kota, has been arrested and is under detailed interrogation. Police termed him a habitually deceitful and manipulative individual, and further investigation into his activities is ongoing.
