Jaipur, October 30 (Udaipur Kiran) — The Forest Department has temporarily suspended the Tiger and Lion Safari at Nahargarh Biological Park in Jaipur until further notice, following continuous rainfall that has caused slippery tracks, waterlogging, and unsafe conditions for tourists.
The decision was taken after a safari vehicle carrying 25 tourists got stuck in the mud during a tiger safari on Sunday. During the incident, a tiger reportedly came close to the stranded bus and sat nearby, creating a tense situation that lasted for about 30 minutes until forest officials reached the spot and safely evacuated the visitors.
According to Deputy Conservator of Forests Vijaypal Singh, the heavy rainfall in Jaipur has made the safari track highly slippery, with several patches experiencing water accumulation and soil erosion.
He stated that tourist safety is the department’s top priority, and hence, the Tiger and Lion Safari will remain closed from October 30. The forest department will soon begin track repair and leveling work, and safaris will resume only after conditions return to normal.
During Sunday’s incident, tourists expressed anger over what they described as a delayed response by forest authorities. All passengers were later transferred safely to another vehicle after walking through the muddy stretch.
With Jaipur receiving continuous rainfall in recent days, the Nahargarh safari zone has become unsafe for vehicle movement, prompting the department to act as a precautionary measure.
The department has clarified that the safari will reopen only after the repair work is completed and the weather stabilizes.
