New Delhi, October 29 (Udaipur Kiran) — The Delhi High Court has declined to grant an urgent hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a stay on the release of the film “The Taj Story”, scheduled to hit theatres on October 31.

The petition, filed by senior advocate Shakeel Abbas, alleged that the movie distorts historical facts about the Taj Mahal and could potentially disturb the country’s communal harmony. The petition named the film’s producers, director, and actor Paresh Rawal as respondents, along with the Central Government and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

According to the petitioner, the film misrepresents historical details related to the Taj Mahal, which could mislead the public and incite religious or communal tension. The plea also claimed that the film’s makers have previously been associated with politically sensitive projects, citing “The Kashmir Files” and “The Bengal Files” as examples.

Abbas argued that “The Taj Story” follows a similar pattern, presenting a distorted version of history. Referring to the film’s trailer, he alleged that several scenes portray incorrect historical facts.

The petition further accused the CBFC of failing to properly examine the film’s content and requested the court to order a re-examination of its certification. It also sought the addition of a clear disclaimer in the film and removal of allegedly objectionable scenes if necessary.

However, the Delhi High Court refused to take up the matter for immediate hearing, effectively allowing the film’s release to proceed as scheduled on October 31.
