Banswara, October 28 (Udaipur Kiran): A shocking incident has come to light from Shambhoopura village under Kalinjara police station limits in Banswara district, where a man was allegedly beaten to death by his own brothers and family members after he refused to go to church.
The deceased has been identified as Kalu (35), son of Laxman Solanki Bhil, a resident of Shambhoopura.
According to Kalu’s wives and other relatives, his brothers and some family members were allegedly trying to take him to a Christian religious place — the church — to meet a pastor. However, when Kalu refused to go, an argument broke out, which soon turned violent.
Police said that in a fit of rage, Kalu’s brothers attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon and struck his head with an axe, causing fatal injuries. He was being taken to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for treatment but died on the way.
The Kalinjara police have kept the body in the mortuary and registered a case of murder based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s family.
Station House Officer Vikram Singh said that the fight broke out late at night between the brothers over some issue, leading to Kalu’s death. An investigation into the case is underway.
Kalu is survived by two wives. His first wife, Jeevi, has three children — one son and two daughters — while his second wife, Mangli, has one son.
