New Delhi, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran) — The Indian squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has undergone a change following an injury to player Pratika Rawal. The ICC Event Technical Committee has approved the inclusion of Shefali Verma as a replacement for Rawal in the Indian team.
Pratika Rawal sustained an ankle injury while fielding during the league match against Bangladesh on Sunday, ruling her out of the remainder of the tournament. In her place, Shefali Verma has been officially added to the squad.
As per ICC regulations, any player replacement during the tournament requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee. The committee granted its consent, allowing Shefali’s inclusion in the Indian contingent.
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Event Technical Committee comprises Wasim Khan (Chairman, ICC General Manager – Cricket), Gaurav Saxena (ICC General Manager – Events & Corporate Communications), Abey Kuruvilla (BCCI Tournament Director), and Mel Jones (Independent Member).
Shefali Verma’s return is expected to strengthen India’s batting lineup. Known for her aggressive style and consistent performances in the past, the young batter is likely to add much-needed firepower to the top order.
