New Delhi, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The country’s best-selling SUV, Hyundai Creta, has once again proven its dominance by capturing 52% of Hyundai Motor India’s total SUV sales. In just six months — between April and September 2025 (H1 FY2026) — the Creta clocked a staggering 99,335 units, driving Hyundai’s growth almost single-handedly.
Creta Leads Hyundai’s Line-Up
The Hyundai Creta continues to be the company’s most successful and fastest-growing SUV. In September 2025 alone, the model achieved its best-ever monthly sales with 18,861 units, marking a new record for the brand.
With this momentum, Creta has already achieved 51% of its FY2025 total sales (1.94 lakh units) within just half a year. The SUV remains the No. 1 model in India’s midsize SUV segment, maintaining a lead of over 14,700 units ahead of its closest rival, Mahindra Scorpio-N/Classic, which sold 84,634 units during the same period.
Other Hyundai SUVs See Decline
While Creta surged ahead, the rest of Hyundai’s SUV portfolio saw a decline in sales performance:
| Model | Sales (H1 FY2026) | YoY Change | SUV Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creta | 99,335 units | ↑ Growth | 52% |
| Venue | 49,978 units | ↓ 12% | 26% |
| Exter | 32,967 units | ↓ 21% | 17% |
| Alcazar | 6,952 units | ↓ 7% | 3.6% |
| Tucson | 424 units | ↓ 49% | — |
| Ioniq 5 EV | 84 units | ↓ 62% | — |
Despite a 7% overall decline in Hyundai’s SUV sales, Creta’s remarkable performance helped the company retain a 14% share in India’s utility vehicle (UV) market.
Why Creta Continues to Win
One key reason behind Creta’s consistent success is its versatile powertrain options. Unlike many competitors that phased out diesel engines, Hyundai continues to offer three engine choices in the Creta lineup:
This strategy has paid off well — particularly the diesel variants, which remain in high demand among Indian buyers.
Additionally, Hyundai recently unveiled the Creta Electric, expanding the SUV’s appeal from conventional buyers to EV enthusiasts. With both ICE and electric options, the Creta now caters to a wider spectrum of customers.
Hyundai’s Overall SUV Performance
In H1 FY2026, Hyundai sold a total of 1,89,751 SUVs, a 7% drop compared to last year. Yet, Creta’s stellar performance cushioned the decline, cementing its place as India’s top-selling SUV and Hyundai’s undisputed market leader.
