Udaipur, October 25 (Udaipur Kiran) — In a heartbreaking incident, four children drowned while bathing in an anicut in the Dabok police station area of Udaipur on Saturday afternoon. The victims include three boys and one girl, with three of them belonging to the same family.
According to initial reports, the tragedy occurred at the Laxmanpura anicut near Bhammarasiya Valley in Kakranada village. Police and Civil Defence officials believe that one child accidentally slipped into deep water while bathing. In an attempt to rescue him, the others jumped in — but none could make it out alive.
As soon as the news spread, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the site. Rescue teams from the Civil Defence Department and local police rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. After nearly an hour of effort, all four bodies were recovered and later sent to the Dabok Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Dabok Station House Officer (SHO) Hukum Singh said, “When we reached the spot, we found the children’s clothes lying on the bank. Local residents had spotted the bodies floating in the water and immediately informed the police.”
The deceased have been identified as:
-
Manohar (6), son of Raju Kalbeliya
-
Komal (8), daughter of Raju Kalbeliya
-
Suman (16), daughter of Keshu Kalbeliya
-
