Ambulance Falls Off Culvert on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Mandsaur; Two Dead, Driver Seriously Injured | Udaipur Kiran

Mandsaur, October 25 (Udaipur Kiran): A tragic accident occurred late Friday night on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Mandsaur district, Madhya Pradesh, when an ambulance carrying patients fell off a culvert. The mishap claimed two lives, while the driver sustained serious injuries and remained trapped inside the vehicle overnight.

The accident came to light only on Saturday morning, when local villagers noticed the crashed ambulance beneath the culvert near Sedra Mata village in Sitamau tehsil. They immediately alerted the police and helped rescue the injured driver, who was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the ambulance — bearing registration number AP-39-UZ-5726 — was returning to Siliguri, West Bengal, after dropping off a patient in Ahmedabad. Around midnight, the vehicle lost control and plunged off the culvert. Due to the remote location and darkness, no one noticed the incident during the night.

The ambulance was severely damaged, particularly in the front section, making it difficult to extract the trapped driver. Locals used a tractor to pull the vehicle out, after which the driver, identified as Azinur Haq (28), a resident of Kunj Vihar, Siliguri (West Bengal), was rescued in critical condition.

The two deceased were identified as Abir and Shibu, both members of the ambulance staff. Police reached the scene soon after being informed, recovered the bodies for post-mortem, and have registered a case to investigate the cause of the accident.

The accident has shocked the local community, highlighting safety concerns on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, especially during late-night transit.
