Moscow, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran): Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said that the latest economic sanctions imposed by the United States are merely an attempt to pressure Moscow, but they will not have any significant impact on Russia’s economy.
According to the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, Putin made it clear that Moscow will not bow to foreign pressure.
Issuing a warning, he said any deep attacks inside Russian territory would be met with a “very serious and decisive” response. “Russia will never succumb to external pressure, and our response will be far stronger than the attacks themselves,” Putin stated.
The President added that Russia’s energy sector remains strong and confident, though he admitted that the new American sanctions could cause some limited damage.
Putin further noted that if Russian oil supplies decline sharply, it could lead to a steep rise in global oil prices. He mentioned that he had discussed the situation regarding oil supply and its impact on international prices with US President Donald Trump.
Commenting on the issue of Tomahawk missiles, Putin warned that any attack on Russian territory using Tomahawk cruise missiles would invite a “very serious” response. While the US has not yet permitted Ukraine to use these missiles, Putin said Kyiv’s request for approval was “an attempt to escalate tensions.”
He concluded by saying that those considering such actions should “seriously think about the consequences.”
