Starlink Crosses 10,000 Satellite Launches; Elon Musk Hails Milestone Achievement | Udaipur Kiran

New Delhi, October 20 (Udaipur Kiran): Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has congratulated his satellite internet venture Starlink for achieving a historic milestone — the successful launch of 10,000 satellites into orbit.

The achievement came after SpaceX launched 28 Starlink internet satellites aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. With this mission, completed on October 19, Starlink officially crossed the 10,000-satellite mark.

This latest launch also marked SpaceX’s 132nd Falcon 9 flight of 2025, matching the company’s previous annual record — with more than two months still left in the year.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk wrote:

“Congratulations to the Starlink and Falcon teams for building and launching 10,000 satellites! SpaceX now has several times more satellites in orbit than all other entities combined.”

Starlink’s official account also celebrated the feat, stating:

“SpaceX has now launched over 10,000 Starlink satellites, providing reliable, high-speed internet to millions of people around the world.”

Launched in 2018 with two prototype satellites, Tintin A and Tintin B, Starlink has grown into one of the world’s largest active satellite networks. Of the more than 10,000 satellites launched, over 8,000 remain operational, delivering broadband connectivity to users across remote and underserved regions worldwide.

Operated by SpaceX, Starlink provides internet access through a constellation of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. The service is currently available in over 150 countries and territories, including India, where government approval for commercial operations has already been granted.

Starlink currently holds authorization to deploy up to 12,000 satellites, with long-term expansion plans aiming to reach 30,000 or more.

Meanwhile, SpaceX recently completed the 11th test flight of its next-generation Starship rocket on October 13, successfully launching from its Starbase facility in Texas and landing in the Indian Ocean after over an hour of flight. Earlier, Starship Flight 10 achieved a soft landing in August, marking a major turnaround in the spacecraft’s testing record.
