PM Modi Celebrates Diwali with Navy Personnel Aboard INS Vikrant, Calls It a Moment of Great Fortune | Udaipur Kiran

Goa, October 20 (Udaipur Kiran): Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with the brave personnel of the Indian Navy aboard the country’s indigenously built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, amid the tranquil waves of the Arabian Sea. The celebration reflected not only a festive spirit but also India’s growing self-reliance and unity in the defence sector.

Located off the coasts of Goa and Karwar, the majestic warship glowed with the light of diyas, rangolis, and traditional decorations, symbolising the nation’s pride in its indigenous defence capabilities.

Upon his arrival, PM Modi was received with a traditional welcome by naval officers and sailors. He performed Diwali puja aboard the vessel and interacted with the personnel, commending their dedication and service to the nation.

Expressing his gratitude, the Prime Minister said,

“I am fortunate to celebrate this auspicious festival of Diwali among the brave sailors of our Navy. It is an honour to be with those who guard our maritime borders day and night.”

He described INS Vikrant as a living symbol of India’s self-reliance, stating that the aircraft carrier represents the hard work of countless Indian engineers, scientists, and artisans.

“This ship is not merely made of metal and machines; it embodies the spirit of India’s innovation and determination. Built with indigenous technology, INS Vikrant has shown the world that India is no longer dependent on imports. As we move forward in Amrit Kaal, such achievements strengthen our journey towards a developed India,” he added.

PM Modi also highlighted the government’s efforts to promote indigenous defence manufacturing, noting that India’s defence exports have surged from ₹1,500 crore to ₹21,000 crore over the past decade — a testament to the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The Prime Minister’s Diwali celebrations with soldiers have become a tradition since 2014, symbolising his deep connection with the armed forces. This year’s celebration aboard INS Vikrant stood as a powerful reminder of India’s naval strength, technological advancement, and patriotic spirit.
