Restaurant Owner Shot Dead in Ranchi After Dispute Over Biryani Order | Udaipur Kiran


Ranchi, October 19 (Udaipur Kiran): A shocking incident of firing at a restaurant on Kanke Road in Ranchi has left the city in shock. The owner of the well-known Chowpatty Restaurant, identified as Vijay, was shot dead late Saturday night following a heated argument with a group of customers.

According to eyewitnesses, locals rushed toward the restaurant after hearing gunshots and saw several young men fleeing the scene while Vijay lay critically injured. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Restaurant staff told police that an argument broke out between Vijay and two or three customers over a biryani order. The dispute reportedly began over confusion between veg and non-veg biryani, and during the altercation, one of the youths pulled out a gun and shot Vijay in the chest, killing him on the spot.

Senior police officers, including the Station House Officer and officials from the Rural SP Office, reached the scene soon after receiving information. Rural SP Praveen Pushkar confirmed that the police have launched an investigation from multiple angles and initiated raids to arrest the accused. CCTV footage from nearby shops and buildings is being reviewed for leads.

Following the incident, family members and local residents blocked Kanke Road on Sunday morning in protest, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Police officers are on-site, trying to pacify the crowd and restore normal traffic movement.
