Nagaur Police Nabs Kingpin of Inter-State Bawariya Gang Involved in Multiple Thefts | Udaipur Kiran

Jaipur, October 15 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major breakthrough against organised theft operations, Nagaur Police have arrested Rajesh Bawariya, the kingpin of an inter-state Bawariya gang, responsible for several high-value house burglary cases across multiple districts. The arrest marks a significant success for the police in curbing a series of thefts worth lakhs of rupees in the region.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa, supervision of Additional SP Sumit Kumar and Circle Officer Rampratap Vishnoi, and leadership of Kotwali SHO Vedpal Shivran.

Series of Burglaries Solved

The investigation began after a September 23 complaint was filed at Kotwali Police Station regarding a burglary at the house of Mulchand Latial, where miscreants broke the lock of the house and decamped with 14 tolas of gold ornaments, silver jewellery, and ₹7 lakh in cash.
Alongside this case, police also linked and investigated six more incidents — including four similar burglaries in Nagaur, one house break-in in Merta City, and one shop theft, all believed to be executed by the same gang.

Kingpin Arrested After Scanning 1500+ CCTV Footages

The accused, Rajesh Bawariya (19), son of Laxman alias Totaram, resident of Haripura, Naraina Police Station area, presently staying in Rojhdi, Jaipur Rural, was arrested near the Rojhdi border following intensive technical surveillance and intelligence gathering.

To crack the case, police teams meticulously examined over 1500 CCTV camera footages, including visuals from toll plazas across Nagaur, Merta City, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jaipur districts. Based on the footage and technical evidence, the accused and his gang members were identified and traced.

Modus Operandi of the Bawariya Gang

During interrogation, Rajesh Bawariya confessed to committing burglaries in Nagaur and Merta City with his gang of 10–15 members. The gang operated in a highly organised manner, conducting daytime reconnaissance of closed houses located along main roads.

For the burglaries, they used vehicles with fake or no number plates. During the act, 2–3 members entered the house while others kept watch outside. To avoid resistance, they carried slingshots, stones, and wooden sticks for intimidation and self-defense.

Wider Network Under Probe

SP Mridul Kachhawa said that during further investigation, several more burglary cases across Nagaur, Merta City, Didwana, Bikaner, Ajmer, Pali, Sirohi, and Jaipur are likely to be solved. Special police teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend the remaining absconding members of the gang.
