Jaipur, October 8 (Udaipur Kiran): In a swift and decisive action, Udaipur Police have arrested 11 accused and detained 3 juveniles in connection with a violent incident of arson, vandalism, and assault in Jabua Ka Khuna Chapa Ki Naal village under Bekariya Police Station limits. The violence erupted after the in-laws of a deceased woman allegedly demanded ₹1.5 lakh as “death compensation” (Mautana) and attacked the husband’s family when their demand was not met.

According to SP Yogesh Goyal, complainant Somaram Garasiya filed a report at Bekariya Police Station stating that his wife, Bhuri Bai, who suffered from respiratory illness, died a month ago due to natural causes while working in the fields. Despite this, her maternal family demanded ₹1.5 lakh as compensation, and upon refusal, they launched a violent attack.

On Tuesday morning around 6:00 AM, 15–20 attackers, led by Amraram (father-in-law), armed with sticks, axes, and a gun, stormed Somaram’s house. Fearing for their lives, Somaram and his family fled into the nearby forest. The attackers then set fire to houses belonging to Somaram, his brothers Kusharam, Dharamaram, Chamanaram, and nephew Ramesh, vandalized property, and stole solar batteries.

Taking the incident seriously, SP Goyal formed a special investigation team under SHO Uttam Singh, supervised by Additional SP Gopal Swaroop Mewada and CO Rajendra Singh. Acting swiftly, the team conducted raids in forest areas and hideouts, arresting 7 men and 4 women, including the victim’s father-in-law Amraram and mother-in-law KC Devi, and detained 3 juveniles involved in the attack.
