Rajvir Jawanda dies: Punjabi singer-actor succumbs after 11-day battle; bike crash occurred in Himachal Pradesh

NEW DELHI: Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda, 35, died on Tuesday after battling for nearly 11 days following a serious road accident in Himachal Pradesh.The accident occurred on September 27 in the Baddi area while he was traveling to Shimla in Solan district, when he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle. He was immediately shifted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he was placed on life support under the close supervision of the hospital’s critical care and neurosciences teams.

Singer Rajvir Jawanda Suffers Brutal Accident, Remains Unconscious

The singer had sustained severe head and spine injuries and remained on ventilator support. Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann visited the hospital last Sunday to check on his condition, while several Punjabi artists had also extended their prayers and support. Hailing from Pona village in Ludhiana’s Jagraon, Rajvir Jawanda was a celebrated Punjabi singer known for hits such as “Tu Dis Penda,” “Khush Reha Kar,” “Sardari,” “Surname,” “Afreen,” “Landlord,” “Down to Earth,” and “Kangani.” He also appeared in Punjabi films including Subedar Joginder Singh (2018), Jind Jaan (2019), and Mindo Taseeldarni (2019).(With agency inputs)
