Yellow Alert Issued in 26 Districts of Chhattisgarh for Thunderstorms, Lightning and Gusty Winds | Udaipur Kiran


Raipur, October 6 (Udaipur Kiran): The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 26 districts of Chhattisgarh warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The state continues to experience rainy conditions, with Raipur witnessing heavy showers on Sunday afternoon. Cloudy skies prevailed on Monday morning as well. The monsoon is likely to retreat 10 days later than usual this year.

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 49.3 mm was recorded in Sukma district. Other major rainfall measurements include 5 cm in Dornapal, 4 cm in Kusmi, and 3 cm each in Daura Kochli, Lormi, Devbhog, Bhaisma, Sukma, and Chhal. Areas like Ambikapur, Mardapal, Kharsia, Mahasamund, Rajim, Baikunthpur, Katekalyan, Katghora, and Amalipadar also received rainfall.

According to the weather office, a cyclonic circulation persists over northeast Bihar and adjoining regions, extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level. Another trough runs from north Bihar through Jharkhand to north Odisha at about 1.5 km above sea level. A separate trough line is also active from coastal Andhra Pradesh to the Comorin region through Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, extending up to 0.9 km.

Due to these weather systems, rainfall activity is expected to continue across Chhattisgarh. The department has warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in one or two places and advised residents to remain cautious.
