Bihar Assembly Elections Announced: Voting on November 6 and 11, Counting on November 14 | Udaipur Kiran


New Delhi, October 6 (Udaipur Kiran): The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with vote counting on November 14, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at Vigyan Bhavan, Gyanesh Kumar said polling for 121 seats will take place in the first phase on November 6, while voting for the remaining 122 seats will be held in the second phase on November 11. He assured that the elections will be conducted with full transparency and peace.

🔹 Voter Statistics

Bihar has a total of 7.43 crore voters, including 3.92 crore men, 3.50 crore women, and 1,725 transgender voters.

  • Divyang voters: 7.2 lakh

  • Voters aged above 85 years: 4.04 lakh

  • Voters aged above 100 years: 14,000

  • Service voters: 1.63 lakh

  • First-time voters (18–19 years): 14.01 lakh

  • Voters aged 20–29 years: 1.63 crore

Nearly 14 lakh voters will be casting their vote for the first time, and they will receive their voter ID cards within 15 days.

🔹 Polling Arrangements

The Election Commission has set up 90,712 polling stations, including 76,801 in rural areas and 13,911 in urban areas, with an average of 818 voters per station.

  • Special polling booths: 292 for differently-abled, 38 managed by youth, and 1,044 run entirely by women.

  • Model polling stations: 1,350
    All polling stations will be equipped with webcasting facilities for real-time monitoring.

🔹 Voter List and Transparency

The CEC highlighted that Bihar has set an example in voter list purification. Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), voter lists were updated and finalised on September 30 after inviting claims and objections from political parties and citizens. New names can be added up to 10 days before the last date of nomination, but not after the final list is released.

🔹 Assembly Composition

The Bihar Legislative Assembly has 243 seats, including 38 reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 2 for Scheduled Tribes (ST). The current assembly’s term ends on November 22, 2025.

Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi were also present at the briefing. The CEC expressed confidence that the Election Commission and state administration will work together to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections across Bihar.
