
Ahmedabad, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran News): Centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja powered India into a dominant position against West Indies on the second day of the first Test in Ahmedabad. By stumps, India reached 448/5 in their first innings, securing a massive 286-run lead after bowling out the visitors for just 162 in their first innings.
Starting the day at 121/2, skipper Shubman Gill (50 off 100 balls, 5 fours) completed his half-century before falling to Roston Chase (2/37). Gill added 98 runs for the third wicket with Rahul, who played a composed and patient knock to bring up his 11th Test hundred before being dismissed for 100 by Jomel Warrican soon after lunch.
The middle session belonged to Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja, who stitched together a 206-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Jurel showcased maturity beyond his years, scoring his maiden Test century and making 125 runs before falling to Khary Pierre.
In the final session, Jadeja brought up his century and remained unbeaten on 104, with Washington Sundar (9*) giving him company at the crease.
For West Indies, Roston Chase picked up two wickets, while Pierre, Jayden Seales, and Warrican claimed one each.
With a commanding first-innings total and plenty of batting still to come, India are well-placed to dictate terms heading into Day 3.
