Heavy Rain Alert in Madhya Pradesh for Next 48 Hours, Showers Expected in 17 Districts | Udaipur Kiran


Bhopal, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran News): Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours as the monsoon prepares to withdraw. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for 17 districts, including Jabalpur, warning of heavy to very heavy rain on Friday.

According to the weather department, four districts — Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli — may receive up to 8 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. The strong weather system is expected to remain active till October 4, after which it will gradually weaken.

The IMD said a depression and deep depression are currently active over the eastern and western parts of the country. In addition, two cyclonic circulations are influencing weather conditions, one of which is active over eastern Madhya Pradesh, leading to widespread rainfall activity.

An orange alert has been issued for Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli, while a yellow alert has been declared for Jabalpur, Satna, Panna, Maihar, Damoh, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Narsinghpur, and Chhindwara. Light rain may continue in some areas even after Sunday as the system weakens.

Earlier, showers were recorded in several parts of the state on Dussehra. Narmadapuram received more than half an inch of rain, while Datia and Narsinghpur recorded similar amounts. Light rainfall was also reported from Bhopal, Indore, Chhatarpur (Nowgaon), Sagar, and Tikamgarh.

The monsoon has already withdrawn from 12 districts. Guna has recorded the highest rainfall this season at 65.6 inches, followed by Mandla and Raisen with over 62 inches, and Sheopur and Ashoknagar with more than 56 inches. Meanwhile, Shajapur (28.9 inches), Khargone (29.6 inches), Khandwa (32 inches), Barwani (33.5 inches), and Dhar (33.6 inches) are among the districts with the lowest rainfall this monsoon.
