IMD Warns of Heavy Rain in Five Maharashtra Districts; Schools Shut in Palghar and Sambhajinagar | Udaipur Kiran


Mumbai, September 28 (Udaipur Kiran News): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for the next five days across five districts of Maharashtra. In response, local administrations have declared a holiday for schools in Palghar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts on Monday as a precautionary measure.

The Disaster Management Department has alerted district authorities to remain on high alert and has appealed to citizens to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

According to official information, the IMD has predicted intense rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts. A red alert has been issued for Palghar, and District Collector Indurani Jakhar has ordered the closure of all schools on September 29 to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Similarly, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Collector Dilip Swami has announced a holiday for all schools in the district due to the forecast of heavy rainfall and potential flooding. The administration has urged residents to follow safety guidelines and remain cautious.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, has reported the likelihood of thunderstorms with strong winds and heavy to very heavy rain in Thane on September 28. District officials have been instructed to follow standard disaster management protocols.

Flood-like conditions continue in parts of Marathwada, with Sambhajinagar, Dharashiv, Beed, Latur, and Nanded affected by overnight heavy rain and reservoir water discharge. Both urban and rural areas in these districts are witnessing waterlogging and flooding, prompting rescue and relief operations by local administrations.
