Greater Noida, September 25 (Udaipur Kiran News) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the five-day UP International Trade Show at Expo Mart, Greater Noida, and called on global and domestic investors to invest in India and Uttar Pradesh. He urged Indian traders to adopt the mantra of promoting indigenous products and assured full government support for businesses.
Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing strength as a global investment hub. Referring to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, he said the new system has benefited industries, farmers, workers, and common citizens alike. “Before 2014, people had to pay multiple taxes, but today that burden has been reduced significantly,” he said.
Modi underlined that India’s armed forces are increasingly demanding indigenous defence equipment. “A defence corridor is coming up in Uttar Pradesh, where advanced weapons like BrahMos missiles and other defence systems are being developed. Soon, production of automatic rifles with Russian collaboration will also begin here,” he announced.
The Prime Minister assured industry leaders that several outdated laws creating hurdles for businesses have been scrapped. Stressing on quality, he said, “Products made in India must be of the best quality. People today believe in the improved standard of indigenous goods. Every citizen wants to buy Indian products.”
Modi also urged companies to significantly increase investment in research and development. He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh has immense opportunities due to improved connectivity, multiple expressways, international airports, and dedicated freight corridors. “UP has become a hub for electronics and mobile manufacturing, and work on a large semiconductor plant is set to begin soon,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Prime Minister and hailed GST reforms as a “revolutionary step” that has benefited all sections of society. He said, “GST has given a new lease of life to industries and traders. It has been a true Diwali gift for citizens.”
Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh’s traditional industries, numbering over 96,000, have expanded significantly in recent years, providing employment to more than two crore people. He said the state has created land banks and developed industrial parks to attract large-scale investments. “UP has become a global hub for IT, semiconductors, and electronics manufacturing. Today, over 55% of India’s mobile phone manufacturing and more than 50% of its component production takes place here,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that improved connectivity, law and order, and a focus on skill development have turned Uttar Pradesh from a “BIMARU” state into a leading growth engine of India.
The event was also attended by UP ministers Rakesh Sachan, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Swatantra Singh, Dharmpal Singh, Baby Rani Maurya, A.K. Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Nishad, Dayashankar Singh, Kapil Dev Agarwal, Brijesh Singh, MPs Mahesh Sharma and Surendra Nagar, along with ambassadors from several countries.
