Bangladesh Edge Afghanistan by 8 Runs in Asia Cup Thriller | Udaipur Kiran


Abu Dhabi, September 17 (Udaipur Kiran): Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 8 runs in a thrilling Group-B clash of the Asia Cup 2025, strengthening their position in the tournament. The match was played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first and posted 154 for 5 in 20 overs. Tanjid Hasan Tamim was the top scorer with a solid 52 off 41 balls, supported by Saif Hasan’s 30 and skipper Liton Das’s 25 runs. For Afghanistan, Noor Ahmad impressed with figures of 2 for 25 in his four overs.

Chasing 155, Afghanistan got a decent start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz making 35 and Azmatullah Omarzai scoring 30. However, the middle order collapsed under pressure. Captain Rashid Khan played some attacking strokes but could not steer his side to victory.

Bangladesh bowlers maintained tight lines throughout. Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed claimed two wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman and others kept the Afghan batters in check. In the final overs, Afghanistan needed quick runs but were bowled out for 146, falling short by 8 runs.

With this win, Bangladesh boosted their chances of reaching the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025.
