Gariyaband, September 11 (Udaipur Kiran): Security forces achieved a major success in Chhattisgarh’s Gariyaband district on Thursday after gunning down 10 Naxals in an encounter. Among those killed was Manoj alias Modem Balakrishna, a Central Committee member and one of the most wanted Naxal leaders.
According to sources, security forces had received intelligence about Naxal activities in the forest areas of the district. Acting on the information, a joint operation was launched, leading to a fierce exchange of fire in which 10 Naxals were killed.
Authorities confirmed the identity of Manoj alias Modem Balakrishna, who had been on the radar of police and security agencies for a long time.
Weapons Recovered, Search Operation Continues
A large cache of arms and Maoist-related material was seized from the encounter site. Following the operation, search efforts are continuing in the area to ensure no remaining cadres escape.
Officials have described the action as a significant blow to the Naxal organisation, weakening its operational strength in the region.
