
Jaipur, September 4 (Udaipur Kiran): Rajasthan continues to witness heavy rainfall, with nearly 18 cities, including Jaipur, recording moderate to heavy showers on Thursday. The heaviest rainfall was reported in Salopat, Banswara at 120 mm, followed by several areas in Ajmer, Bhilwara and Pratapgarh.
For the first time this year, all 16 gates of the Mahi Bajaj Sagar Dam in Banswara were opened to release excess water. In Dausa, the long-dry Ban Ganga River saw water flow again after 15 years, drawing celebrations from local residents who welcomed the river with traditional rituals.
In Ajmer, fears of a breach in a pond embankment in Boraj led authorities to begin evacuating around 80 houses in Swastik Nagar on Foy Sagar Road.
According to the Water Resources Department, rainfall records on Thursday included 115 mm in Sajjangarh (Banswara), 100 mm in Hurda (Bhilwara), 99 mm in Arnod (Pratapgarh), 94 mm in Vijaynagar (Beawar), 88 mm in Bhina (Ajmer), 78 mm in Goyla (Ajmer), and 75 mm in Pisangan and Rupheli.
Rain Forecast Till September 7
Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre, said that a weakened low-pressure system currently over northern Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh is expected to move northwest over the next 24 hours.

Kota and Udaipur divisions may receive moderate to heavy and isolated very heavy rainfall over the next 3–4 days.

Jaipur, Bharatpur and Ajmer divisions could see moderate to heavy showers.

In Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, rainfall activity is expected to intensify, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in parts of Jodhpur between September 5 and 7.
Jaipur Records 16 mm Rain
In Jaipur, light to moderate showers were recorded during the morning and afternoon, amounting to 16 mm rainfall. Sunny spells in between caused a rise in temperature, with the maximum recorded at 32.3°C and the minimum at 22.6°C.
Meanwhile, the Bisalpur Dam continued to receive heavy inflows, prompting the release of water through six gates, discharging 48,080 cusecs. Gates 10 and 11 were opened by 2 metres, while gates 8, 9, 12 and 13 were opened by 1 metre.
