Major Police Action in Saira: 458 Kg Doda Chura Worth ₹70 Lakh Seized, Unnumbered Scorpio Car Also Confiscated | Udaipur Kiran

Udaipur, 28 August (Udaipur Kiran): In a major crackdown against illegal narcotics, police from Saira Police Station, under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, seized 458.260 kilograms of Doda Chura (poppy husk) with an estimated market value of ₹70 lakh. An unnumbered Scorpio car used in the smuggling was also confiscated.

Following the ongoing campaign to curb drug trafficking, Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Swaroop Mewara, Circle Officer Suryaveer Singh Rathore (Girwa), and SHO Kishore Singh Shaktawat led a team to set up a blockade near Barwada Pulia. During the blockade, a black Scorpio car without a number plate was spotted. When signalled to stop, the driver broke through the barricade and tried to flee.

Police threw a tire breaker stick, causing the car’s tire to burst, but the driver continued to speed away. After a chase, the car was abandoned at a highway turn, and the driver along with another person escaped into the nearby jungle under cover of darkness. Despite a search, the duo could not be apprehended due to the dense terrain and nightfall.

Upon searching the unnumbered Scorpio, police discovered 23 plastic sacks filled with a total of 458.260 kilograms of Doda Chura. Both the contraband and the vehicle were seized. A case under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
