Jaipur, 1 September (Udaipur Kiran). The monsoon session of the Rajasthan Assembly began on Monday with heated exchanges. On the very first day, Congress MLAs raised placards and shouted slogans like “Voter thieves, vacate the chair” inside the house. Despite the Assembly Speaker’s appeal to Congress MLAs to maintain peace and uphold the dignity of the house, the uproar continued.
During the session, BJP MLAs also raised slogans against Congress, calling Rahul Gandhi abusive. Expressing his displeasure, the Speaker advised both sides to show restraint and stated that the house should not be run like a marketplace or a crossroads. Amidst the commotion, after paying tributes to deceased leaders, proceedings were adjourned until Wednesday, with Tuesday being a holiday.
The Assembly expressed condolences on the demise of several former leaders and victims of recent disasters. The house mourned the loss of former Governors La. Speaking to the media outside the Assembly, Congress leader Sachin Pilot alleged that while Congress contested the elections under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, BJP has repeatedly tried to form the government by stealing votes. He said Congress would not tolerate such politics and that a nationwide movement was being built against it.
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie also made serious allegations against the Election Commission, stating that vote theft was not limited to Bihar or Karnataka, but irregularities had also occurred in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. He demanded an impartial investigation and the removal of those in the Commission working under BJP’s influence.
During the session, Independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati arrived with posters demanding the implementation of the Khejri Conservation Act. He warned that if the government did not implement this law in time, he would launch a strong protest.
Meanwhile, Chief Government Whip Jageshwar Garg hit back at Congress, calling Rahul Gandhi abusive and claiming that the Congress party’s record reflects the same. He stated that video evidence was also available to support this claim.
In the SI recruitment case, Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham, while speaking to journalists, said that the High Court’s order is being legally examined. The government believes that action will be taken against candidates who obtained jobs through unethical means, while innocent candidates will not be harassed.
