Bear Attacks Two Men in Udaipur: Had Gone to Forest to Search for Missing Bull | Udaipur Kiran

Udaipur : In Udaipur district’s Phulwari ki Naal Wildlife Sanctuary, a bear attacked two men who had ventured into the forest to search for their missing bull. The incident took place in the forest area near Dharawan village, under the Phulwari ki Naal Sanctuary, Falaasiya Panchayat Samiti.

On Wednesday evening, the bear attacked local villagers Motilal (35), son of Bheemraj Kharadi, and Mohanlal (40), son of Kalu Kharadi, leaving both seriously injured. The two men had entered the forest looking for their missing bull. As soon as they encountered the bear, they tried to escape, but the bear attacked them. Somehow, they managed to flee the scene.

Both injured men were first taken to the Community Health Centre in Falaasiya for initial treatment. Later, they were referred to Udaipur, as they had suffered serious head injuries and multiple wounds on their bodies.

Motilal shared that their bull had been missing for a week, and they had been searching for it every day. On Wednesday evening, around 4:30 PM, while searching in the nearby hills, the bear first attacked Mohanlal. As Motilal tried to help, the bear attacked him as well, injuring his head and ear. Both men made noise, which eventually scared the bear away. Motilal sustained injuries on his hands and legs, requiring 12 stitches in his leg.

Phulwari ki Naal Sanctuary is located about 100 km from Udaipur and covers a forest range that spans Kotda, Mamer, and Panarwa. The sanctuary covers around 511 square kilometers and, according to this year’s wildlife census, is home to 48 bears. There are around 133 villages inside the three ranges of the sanctuary.
