India captain Rohit Sharma was seen posing with his two ICC Trophies in front of the iconic Burj Khalifa on Monday, March 10 in Dubai. The Men in Blue beat New Zealand by four wickets in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy to clinch their third title of the tournament.

As a result, under Rohit’s leadership, India secured their second successive ICC triumph after having won the T20 World Cup 2024 last year. To celebrate India’s historic achievement, captain Rohit posted a picture with his two trophies with ICC Chairman Jay Shah.

Rohit didn’t have a memorable tournament in the lead up to the final, having scored just 104 runs from four innings at an average of 26. However, in the final, he led his team from the front with his sublime innings of 76 (83), studded with seven fours and three sixes. He got off the mark with a gigantic six on his second delivery through his trademark pull shot against Kyle Jamieson.

Rohit brought up his half-century off 41 deliveries, which was coincidentally his maiden 50-plus score in an ICC event final. He was finally dismissed on 76 (83), getting stumped by Rachin Ravindra.

Following his dismissal, Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62) and Axar Patel (29 off 40) stitched a crucial 61-run stand for the fourth wicket to stabilise the innings. After the duo got out, KL Rahul (34* off 33), Hardik Pandya (18 off 18) and Ravindra Jadeja (9 off 6) took India over the finishing line.

Jadeja hit the winning runs as he pulled William O’Rourke for a boundary towards deep square leg as India successfully chased down the target of 252 in 49 overs. Rohit was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for his marvellous knock as he guided India to successive ICC triumphs for the first time in their cricketing history.
