
NEW DELHI: The Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday will have Australia’s Paul Reiffel and England’s Richard Illingworth as on-field umpires with Sri Lanka’s Ranjan Madugalle serving as match referee.
Reiffel, 58, a former Australian fast bowler with over 200 wickets in Tests and ODIs, recently officiated the semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand in Lahore.
Illingworth, 61, a former England left-arm spinner, was present during India’s semifinal match against Australia in Dubai. The four-time ICC Umpire of the Year has officiated major events including the 2023 ODI World Cup final and the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Americas.
Illingworth also officiated the group stage match between India and New Zealand, which India won by 44 runs.
In the semis, India secured their final spot, defeating Australia by four wickets in Dubai while New Zealand advanced after beating South Africa by 50 runs.
The complete officiating team includes Reiffel and Illingworth as on-field umpires, Joel Wilson as third umpire, Kumar Dharmasena as fourth umpire, and Madugalle as match referee.
