Many withdrew the claim, got the common and open election symbol

Chandauli: Many candidates who had enrolled for the Gram Panchayat member for the by-election in all the blocks withdrew their nominations on Monday. The candidates remaining in the fray were given common and open election symbols. By the way, uncontested election is fixed by nomination of only one candidate for 60 percent of the posts. Polling in the district will be held on June 12 and counting will be held on June 14.

In 268 gram panchayats of the district, two-third posts of panchayat members are vacant. Due to this the matter of formation of Gram Panchayats has been stalled. The oath could not be administered to the newly elected village heads of these gram panchayats. According to the notification issued by the State Election Commission for the by-election, the process of nomination of candidates is going on from June 6. The nominations of the candidates were withdrawn on Monday. During this, a total of 75 candidates withdrew their candidature in nine blocks of the district, including 18 in Dhanapur. Five nominations were rejected due to error in Sakaldiha in scrutiny of nomination papers. Symbols were allotted to the remaining candidates in the fray after 3 pm on Monday. Common and Okhli election symbols have been given to the candidates for the post of Gram Panchayat member. Polling parties will reach the booths on the evening of June 11. Voting will be held on 12 from 7 am to 6 pm. After that in the ballot box blocks Will be deposited in the created strong room. The process of counting of votes will start from 8 am on 14th June. The candidates will have to follow the model code of conduct. Their activities are monitored by the authorities.
